 Martyr Al-Hakim Commemorated in Iraq

A ceremony was held in Iraq on Saturday in commemoration of the martyred Ayatollah Mohammad Baqer al-Hakim.

A large number of political, religious and cultural figures from Iraq and other countries took part in the ceremony, Al-A’ahd website reported.

Addressing the event, Ammar al-Hakim, leader of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, praised martyr al-Hakim’s approach.

A representative of Iraq’s National Kurdistan Union also delivered a speech in which he described Ayatollah Mohammad Baqer al-Hakim as exemplary among Jihadi leaders.

Ayatollah Mohammad Baqer al-Hakim was born in 1939. Along with his seminary studies, he was active in the political arena and was arrested by the Ba’athist regime of Iraq several times.

He played a key role in the formation of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq (formerly known as the Supreme Council of Iraq’s Islamic Revolution).
